When people started to find out about it, a woman named Susan Plevin who was mis-sold a PPI went to court against this massive commission and won the case. It helped her recover her lost finances. After this successful win, the financial conduct authority (FCA) announced that if anyone else has been treated a similar way then they must come forward and claim their PPI, and the rest is history.
